Water Authority of Jordan > Welcome Speaches

 Welcome Speaches

HRH Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein
Head of the Royal Commission for Water

The water scarcity in Jordan poses a serious challenge that will affect all sectors if not addressed with serious efforts. Water for Life is Jordan's Water Strategy that sets the pace for our efforts for the years up to 2022.

This is our Strategy that establishes our Vision for each of the major areas of the Water Sector. It also establishes the Actions required to achieve the Visions.

A sincere effort is required from all Jordanians to understand and join collectively to address the water issues that are explained in this Strategy report. It is all the more important to consider this Strategy report and the subsequent action plans as one of the highest priorities to perform on the national level.

The Ministry of Water and Irrigation has the major role to lead this initiative. I am confident that we have sufficient will and determination to succeed in achieving our goals

Minister of Water and Irrigation

  An Opening Statement by

Eng. Fayez AL-Bataineh
Secretary General / WAJ

The pace of change in water consumption and hiis rapid, and more far reaching change may be on the way.  We realize the importance of meeting our community's expectations for water and wastewater services for different uses.  Every plan we make, every action we implement, is driven by the desire for quality and is keenly focused on the following points:
• Providing outstanding water quality;
• Being good financial stewards;
• Providing a rewarding environment for our employees to work;
• Building and preserving a strong partnership with the community.
A vital component in our quest for services quality is the constant investment in water and wastewater systems, facilities, resources and technologies.  We continue to focus on having excellent facilities, which is essential to our purpose to provide adequate amount of water to all citizens with the highest standard of quality that we have to deliver.
Strategic planning paired with innovative thinking, awareness of the water scarcity, its proper use and just pricing are key elements of our journey to achieve a broad continuum.  But the underlying theme guiding us through it all continues to be quality. We also believe that by combining our efforts with other organizations, we can improve the services to the entire community.
For more than a decade, WAJ has put Private Sector Involvement at the fore front of its methodologies and approaches in this regard. This stemmed from His Majesty’s King Abdullah the Second directions and WAJ’s profound belief that PSP brings along with it elements such as know how, expertise, financial resources, international best practices amongst other advantages that contribute to the improvement of the overall performance within the water and other related sectors.

Under PSP, WAJ has launched a number of projects where various PSP options were adopted. The most significant actions taken so far was the corporatization of Aqaba and Amman Water Utilities into companies which operate under companies laws but yet owed and controlled by the Water Authority which resulted in better services.

And finally, we are committed to continue providing the services at a high level to our valuable citizens.
